For as long as the restaurant has been an institution, the medium of the menu has been the printed page — expensively typeset, seasonally re-issued, and stubbornly resistant to the technologies that have transformed every adjacent surface of the industry. GlossPlate was built for a different premise: that the menu is a cinematic object, and the cinema of hospitality deserves the treatment.

GlossPlate is the consumer platform through which a restaurant publishes and presents its menu with the visual and editorial discipline of a first-class magazine. Photography that survives close inspection, typography that carries the room, and an operating stack that lets the operator ship a change the moment the kitchen makes one.

What the product provides

  • A native consumer surface — iOS and Google Play — through which the guest experiences the menu with the cadence of a considered publication.
  • An editorial imagery pipeline that produces plate photography of the standard set by first-class hospitality media, at the operating speed of the kitchen.
  • A publishing surface for the operator — the moment the kitchen changes, the menu changes; the moment the price shifts, the price is authoritative.
  • A tabletop and lobby presentation mode — for the room, not only for the phone.

The institutional premise

A restaurant that is willing to be considered on its plating deserves a menu surface that is considered in its typography, its imagery, and its cadence of publication. GlossPlate is the platform for that class of operator.

The product is live in the United States and operating today. It is one of two flagship consumer ventures held under the Capital Index partnership.
